How to Login to Linux Server?

Step 2

You will now need to take note of your Serial Console username and password. In order to find this information or to reset the Serial Console password, please reference How do I reset the Serial Console password?Step 3

Double-click the putty.exe file to start the program. For the hostname, enter sercon.onlinehome-server.com and then click the Open button.Launch the program, enter the info and click Open

Enter your Serial Console username and press ENTEREnter your username and press ENTER

Step 5

Enter your Serial Console password. As you type, no characters will show on the screen. This is normal so as to prevent bystanders from guessing your password or the length of your password. Enter you password and then click the ENTER button.Enter your password and press ENTER

Step 6

Once connected to your server, you should see a line listing the escape character such as Escape character is ‘^]’. followed by some output from your server. Press ENTER to access your server’s command/login prompt.Press ENTER again

Step 7

Now you should see the login prompt or command prompt. If you are given the login prompt, log in to your server as root using the root password. You can now begin making any necessary changes to your system to regain network access.
